River is known to many in his industry as a pioneer of integrating Intuit software into the payment processing operations of retail companies across the country, making it easier for businesses of all sizes to process consumer payment data quickly and securely. The innovative financial service model offered by Datainsure has become an industry standard as a result of River’s leadership and success.
Datainsure delivers point-of-sale (POS) merchant services that integrate seamlessly with Quickbooks and can be operated from mobile devices. The company also offers PCI compliance services including data insurance and data breach insurance. Prior to founding Datainsure, River gained lucrative experience in the payment processing world while employed at UPS, First American Payment Systems, and Eliot Management Group. He is also the founder of healthcare compliance firm PCIHIPAA as well as a founding investor of Spiritual Gangster, a yoga-inspired retail brand.
Starting at a young age, River developed an intense passion for philanthropy, something that has shaped his life and career as a successful entrepreneur and leader. Through his non-profit organization, River Cohen Giving. River shares with his colleagues and community his methodology of ‘planting seeds of loving kindness’ – the idea that once you pass along the spirit of philanthropic giving to someone else, they will cultivate their own zeal for helping others.

While River operates both Datainsure and River Cohen Giving out of Scottsdale, Arizona, he resides with his wife and two daughters in the Bay Area of Northern California, where the family frequently enjoys hiking, biking, and enjoying nature. Originally from Mendocino, California, River received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Arizona State University in 1995 and recently received an executive certification from the Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School.
