Starting at a young age, River developed an intense passion for philanthropy, something that has shaped his life and career as a successful entrepreneur and leader. Through his non-profit organization, River Cohen Giving. River shares with his colleagues and community his methodology of ‘planting seeds of loving kindness’ – the idea that once you pass along the spirit of philanthropic giving to someone else, they will cultivate their own zeal for helping others.
River’s socially-conscious thinking extends not only to his philanthropic efforts, but also the way he leads his company and team. He attributes a great deal of his success to always considering the impact of his decisions on anyone who might be affected, even those remotely involved.
River resides with his wife and daughter in the Bay Area in Northern California, where the family frequently enjoys hiking, biking, and enjoying nature. Originally from Mendocino, California, River received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Management from Arizona State University in 1995 and recently received an executive certification from the Program on Negotiation (PON) at Harvard Law School.
